The minimum educational qualification required for the GDS post is not too demanding. A 10th Class or X Standard pass certificate from any recognized institution is all that is needed, along with additional knowledge of computer skills, cycling, and livelihood. Moreover, the applicant must have studied the local language up to at least the 10th Standard from a recognized board. This implies that the individual should have successfully completed formal education in the local language up to a level equivalent to the 10th Standard, as verified by a recognized educational board.

To kickstart the application process, visit https://indiapostgdsonline.gov.in and fill out the necessary details on the online platform. Before diving in, ensure you have the following information/documents ready:
- Mobile Number (to undergo OTP verification)
- Email ID (to undergo OTP verification)
- Aadhaar Number (if available)
- Details regarding the Board and Year of Passing the Matriculation (10th) Examination.
An applicant can apply for one or more vacant GDS posts within a single selected Division. Before making a Division selection, the applicant must validate their details by entering the Registration number and OTP sent to the registered mobile number. Upon Division selection, a list of eligible posts (based on community and Age) will be presented, for which the applicant must indicate preferences.
It is crucial to note that an applicant will only be considered for posts they have selected preferences for. In the event of being shortlisted, only one post will be offered for engagement, with rights to other posts being forfeited.
For instance, if an applicant selects five posts in a Division with preference order post1, post2, post3, post4, post5, and is deemed meritorious for more than one post, the first preferred post they are most suitable for will be offered, while candidacy for the remaining posts will be forfeited.
